My fitness journey began many years ago during my divorce when I was overwhelmed with tension, anger, and stress. That's when I discovered boxing fitness, which really helped me maintain my sanity, I think haha.
I trained in boxing for a few years, and in 2016, I started running. It's a funny story! While in New York, I was busy trying to set up my business and had invested all my money into it. Running became my go-to exercise because it was completely free!
My yoga classes, however, have an even more interesting backstory. As a child in primary school, I dreamed of being Indian, probably influenced by my mom’s love for Bollywood! I borrowed a book from the school library about different religions, which piqued my interest in Buddhism and Hinduism. I was fascinated by the spiritual side of yoga. I vividly remember attempting to meditate by focusing on an apple, haha! But I wasn't ready to embrace my inner yogi back then; my mind was too restless, and I had too much energy. Like a mosquito, I couldn't stay still for long. It wasn't until I turned 30 that yoga truly came into my life, and I began to appreciate what was important to me—my peace of mind.
At the age of 45, my calling shouted to me loudly when I watched Michelle Yeoh. For some reason, she inspired me to finally pursue what I had always wanted: to become a yoga teacher. Yoga has been a part of my life since I was 28, and now I feel ready to embrace that journey.
